Don’t Get Stressed With Web Stats and Ad Impressions

Wednesday, May 30th, 2007

Getting stressed by your webstats or add impressions compared to clicks? Here is some advice from one who used to be worried and stressed about their stats, impressions, and clicks. One should not get alarmed when they know the reports are not working correctly, give it a few days if there is a bug or problem with servers. Most stat programs are not the best at showing exact results.  You will have more time to do other things if you don’t stress and check these things daily.

I used to stress out with my oldest site and watch the stats. It was like a frenzy daily hoping more visitors come. It can really strain a person mentally. Once you get in the state of mind of not watching the pot to see if it is going to boil your time will pass by quicker and soon you will see your stats jump, which feels a lot better than moving up a few or less than a few when checking daily. I don’t check some of my sites. It can be months before I check and see how they are doing. It is less stressful not worrying if they are gaining more visitors or not. I find it is better to use your energy by adding more content or links which can be more useful in gaining more targeted traffic.

Now this advice can be the same with watching SERPs(search engine results pages). So many people feel they have to watch certain SERPs daily. They check the top 3 search engines and they are consumed with it. I can be asked by people have I checked Google lately since they notice something going on in the SERPs, of course, I haven’t noticed as I am not checking everyday.:-)

What I am trying to say is the more relaxed I was and just let the time go by and busy myself with other things I seen results, as time needs to go by before seeing results. This also helps you be less stressed as stress can really harm your health, especially for those who lose sleep over their stats and adverts. Trust me I know a few people who loose sleep.:-)

Some SEO Experts Practice Bad SEO Techniques

Tuesday, May 29th, 2007

Sometime people like to step up on a soap box to let go of a little bit of stress. It helps you clear your mind of some people who really shouldn’t be worth anyone’s time. So I created my blog to help matters in discussing things that are setting on my mind and need to get it out.

I would like to expand on my article about the Good-Bad-Ugly SEOs article. I featured a SEO specialist that I had encountered in a NG I am a regular at. Canadafred is what he is known by. We have had our bouts at the NG, and he has come back to try and start another argument sort of speak but I am not going to battle him on the NG. Got too much work to do, I will however battle him online, since he brought me into this again, with his SEO site and blog.

I want to let people know I don’t copy him or use any of his techniques nor does SEO Dave a friend of mine, as he has said we do, both on his blog and website. I wouldn’t do anything he does as his techniques do not get him anywhere. I am not a junior SEO to him as my SERPs compared to his are in no contest, as I have sites doing a lot better than any of his and are in more competitive SERPs. Fred has yet to show anything decent for SERPs.

Fred is mostly hot air in his SEO writings. He boosts his own ego with his facade of appearing to do well, but appearance isn’t everything. He actually writes like he feels he is #1 in his field. To tell you the truth, I have found evidence that show the opposite. His sites all have low Google Page Rank™, and he has yet to gain enough good competitive SERPs to prove he is a good SEO expert. This is illustrated in our article Inexperienced SEOs Versus Experienced SEOs.

Fred uses index.html instead of the root for the link to the home page of a site he has SEOed. This is just a bad technique and also shows his poor knowledge of SEO. You can read more on the article mentioned above.

It is about time Fred jumps off his high horse of stating how knowledgeable he is. Fred doesn’t seem that he is truthful when speaking about his experience. He states 13 years he has been doing SEO. That would mean he started in 1994. There really wasn’t that many websites on the internet that needed to have SEO work done to the websites. It was still fairly new and easy to rank. All one had to do was submit it to the search engine.  There were still many tests being done at that time and also not very many people had the luxury of owning a computer then. For more information on how the internet was in 1994 read this page: 1994 Web Ability Report. This page will show how many websites were on the www since its beginning: Web Growth. Although 1994 was a rapid growth from 700 to 12,000 websites online, you can see there just wouldn’t be a need to optimize a site as they could easily rank once placed online. So it is highly unlikely Fred has been doing SEO for 13 years.

I am nominating Fred for Bad - Ugly SEOs Hall Of Fame!
