Chargebacks - What are they? Are Internet marketers at risk?

Tuesday, December 18th, 2007

One thing that most of us in Internet marketing might sometimes have to face is a charge-back. What is a charge-back? Well it is when a person disputes their charges on their charge card. This can be because of a fraudulent purchase or because they didn’t get what they had ordered. So it can be someone asks their credit card company to take back money that they had paid for the item they purchased, and believe it or not people actually do charge backs even if they have got good service.

For some large companies then can be an everyday occurrence, for some small businesses this can create problems. People work very hard for their money and to have it taken away after they have performed the service flawlessly can be a huge blow, and might even hurt them financially. It is also something that one wouldn’t expect to happen since the service or product was provided. This is when it is considered theft, as it is obvious if a person got what they had paid for in a timely matter and they don’t want to send back the product or pay for the item. Yes, this can happen.

On one of my sites I got a chargeback and won the money back, although I am still out money that the bank charged to take the money back. To be able to win keep good records and communication with the people purchasing your products. This is essential to winning. You have to prove that you did what you are suppose to do when someone makes a purchase and does a chargeback. I guess I can consider that only having one chargeback is good and winning it back is a plus also. I just feel that most places shouldn’t take the money back until they figure out that the retailer was in the wrong.

There is also some theft being done by doing chargebacks. This is the new robbery of sorts. Buying products and doing a chargeback. It is just to easy to do this day in age. I hope in time it will beome better and the side of the retailers are taken before the purchasers. Yes, a cardholder needs to be protected but the retailer does also.

What is SEO?

Search Engine Optimization - Optimizing a site for the ability of being found by the search engines and making it more available to show up in the results pages and to be able to make a site to be returned in the top of those results pages.

The way you optimize the website is by making sure that the copy text is relevant enough to be found and also be portrayed as being the best to show up in the top results. Links from relevant sites help this process. Making sure that you use headings and proper html coding, never waste html space as this is only what the robot can read. It reads and not sees of course, so having images, flash, etc taking up space without content is a big mistake that is often done. Of course other things need to be beefed up if someone wants to use flash and other space taking items. A website does need at least one link from an already established site to be found by a search engine crawler.

One needs to make sure that they can make their code as clean as possible. This makes the over all site less in size making the site download quicker also. You need to make sure that your site is readable in all type browsers, this way you know there isn’t any hick ups in the code that could cause the robot not be able to read your code clearly. Although, this isn’t a large necessity for SEO it might help more than manually submitting your site to search engines. If you feel you need to do something clean code before submitting.

Dropship Forum - Dropship Forums

Saturday, August 11th, 2007

There are a few forums out there that are for drop shipping. Some of them can actually help you find info about drop shipping. People go there to discuss their trials and tribulations for drop shipping. You might need to avoid those drop ship forums that look to be too new or seem to have a hidden agenda behind them, such as fueling drop shipping websites of their own. A forum moderator for forums created to help others for information regarding their topics should be unbiased.

When joining drop shipping type forums or any forum always look around and familiarize yourself with the members, what type info is being offered, what type of membership is it, and any type of general information about it that can be found. This way when you start posting you won’t ask questions that have already been asked or post something that is against the rules.

If anyone knows of some good drop shipping forums it would be good to know here to help others. Drop shipping if done correctly can be a lucrative business.

Selling on eBay

Friday, August 10th, 2007

Yes, you get a lot of deals in eBay why, because people will sell things for the cheapest they can mark it down to. The market is saturated in eBay by people selling it the cheapest, and you have to be a power seller just to make anything decent. If you sell something cheap enough you will be a power seller in no time. Shoot selling 100 things a day cheap you will make enough to keep going. So selling on eBay could be really hard trying to make enough profit because of the many people selling thing too cheap already.

Some people can argue that eBay already has loads of traffic to it, I look at the internet the same way. Plain and simply put the internet has more visitors than eBay. Every person signing on a computer online and searching for a product is a potiential customer. I feel any site has the potiential to do well. A person needs patience and instead of paying those high fees eBay charges, fuel that into advertising your site or making your site better to gain top positions. True, that doesn’t mean the person signing on the internet will find you, but that is also the same when someone signs on to eBay if they are going to find your products. Both ways you need to make your site and products accessible to the people.

I am not saying people can not make it selling on eBay, I am saying they go there expecting to try and get something for real cheap. This is how auctions and flea markets sometimes go. Trying to get the best deal is why people go or looking for something they can not find in stores.

How long have you had a website and marketed it? Did you know that with the RIGHT kind of links and content that is all you need to gain top rankings? With the right look you can get the desired price. When someone searches and you come to the top, chances are they are going to purchase from you.

Getting Cheated by Helping Someone

Friday, August 3rd, 2007

Well have you ever tried to help someone and they cheated you? Yep, it has happened to me. I should have seen it coming though, but still wanted to help this person out. I paid for some sponsored and featured ads in her newly made directory in June. I paid up for a year. The total was over $140, the site was up for approximately 2 months, I got less than 2 months worth of featured and sponsored listings. Am I mad, of course I am! She stole my money! So I am going to spread the truth about her lies, and her credibility will be diminishing. I feel she owes me back my money as I did not receive what I was suppose to. Since, I can not do a charge back as it is over 45 days I will put everything I can that I know about her, except for the direct use of her name. There might be some to figure out who it is. Your Simple Directory Image - My links are to the left, top 5 of the sponsored links, starting with “The Bear Facts”.

This person claims to be an SEO, but actually after some investigation it appears that it isn’t as it seems. It is a lot of talk mostly. What was found during researching was she actually had help from other people to do her SEO, yet she claims to have done it. I found her asking for help on an SEO forum, yep asking for help to SEO one of her sites. I think she blows a lot of smoke LOL!!! I am using one of her phrases she used when describing some of my advice I gave to her a few months ago, on another SEO forum.

Proof of asking for help:

http://www.highrankings.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=30332 ,

http://www.highrankings.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=30035

As you can see for those of you who have figured this out, that she is’t all of who she says she is like an expert in SEO.

She should have followed my advice, as she is losing things like her blogs. The funny thing is that she actually claims she closed them herself to add Adsense, now why would someone shut down blogs that had PR and a lot of content. She claims she was going to move them. Here is the common sense part, a person would keep them up until all the information got transferred to the new blogs right? You can view this one: http://learnseo.wordpress.com/, if you read the TOS you would probably notice the do not use for spam, use to boost search engine rankings of 3rd party sites. Guess what, this was violated, yep too many blogs created to artificially boost links and ranking for her other sites. She should have read my article “To Blog or Not to Blog“.

At any rate I hope she can rest well after stealing money from me,(or others as I have found out) or of the lies she tends to do. She claims to design websites, this isn’t true either. There is someone who does the graphics, why he does them and let her take the credit is beyond me. Grow up and tell people the truth!  Not only that the two are not even doing web design, they are changing pre made templates available from Shopster. Make a template from blank HTML, then they would designing, until then they need to stop taking people’s money for something they are not doing.

One last thing, not only have I figured out that she isn’t who she says she is, her past websites ventures have been failures. This was for 2 websites, a gift basket site and a mall site (huge, yep same domain she is using now).

There I feel better. Now, if she reads this and wants it removed she needs to give me back my money for the months I didn’t get, and the partial payment for the month of July cause it went down about the 28th.

Don’t Get Stressed With Web Stats and Ad Impressions

Wednesday, May 30th, 2007

Getting stressed by your webstats or add impressions compared to clicks? Here is some advice from one who used to be worried and stressed about their stats, impressions, and clicks. One should not get alarmed when they know the reports are not working correctly, give it a few days if there is a bug or problem with servers. Most stat programs are not the best at showing exact results.  You will have more time to do other things if you don’t stress and check these things daily.

I used to stress out with my oldest site and watch the stats. It was like a frenzy daily hoping more visitors come. It can really strain a person mentally. Once you get in the state of mind of not watching the pot to see if it is going to boil your time will pass by quicker and soon you will see your stats jump, which feels a lot better than moving up a few or less than a few when checking daily. I don’t check some of my sites. It can be months before I check and see how they are doing. It is less stressful not worrying if they are gaining more visitors or not. I find it is better to use your energy by adding more content or links which can be more useful in gaining more targeted traffic.

Now this advice can be the same with watching SERPs(search engine results pages). So many people feel they have to watch certain SERPs daily. They check the top 3 search engines and they are consumed with it. I can be asked by people have I checked Google lately since they notice something going on in the SERPs, of course, I haven’t noticed as I am not checking everyday.:-)

What I am trying to say is the more relaxed I was and just let the time go by and busy myself with other things I seen results, as time needs to go by before seeing results. This also helps you be less stressed as stress can really harm your health, especially for those who lose sleep over their stats and adverts. Trust me I know a few people who loose sleep.:-)
